Educational Qualification and Experience

Candidates must satisfy either of the following qualification and experience combinations:

Option 1: Master’s Degree with Experience

Master’s degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Business Studies or Public Administration from a recognized university or institution.

One year of experience in handling stores and maintaining store accounts.

Option 2: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma with Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Business Studies or Public Administration from a recognized university or institution; or

Diploma in Material Management, Warehousing Management, Purchasing, Logistics or Public Procurement from a recognized university or institution.

Two years of experience in handling stores and maintaining store accounts.

Acceptable Organizations for Experience

The prescribed stores and accounts experience must have been gained in any of the following:

Central Government organization

State Government organization

Statutory or autonomous organization

Salary

The Foreman of Stores post carries Pay Level 6 under the applicable Central Government pay structure.

Nature of Duties

Acting as custodian of the storehouse.

Supervising staff working under the Foreman of Stores.

Assisting senior officers in the audit of ledgers and folios.

Coordinating with the audit authority.

Managing inventory and disposing of scrap materials.

Supervising the receipt and issue of stores in the warehouse.

Ensuring effective material management.

Performing other duties connected with stores and service requirements.

Selection Process

The Indian Coast Guard Foreman of Stores selection process includes the following stages:

  1. Scrutiny of applications

  5. Preparation of merit list based on written examination marks

Mathematics

Mathematical simplification, ratio and proportion, interest, profit and loss, percentage, work and time, speed and distance, simple mensuration, average, median and mode.

English

Passages, prepositions, sentence correction, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, verbs, tense, non-finites, punctuation, phrasal verbs, synonyms, antonyms, difficult words, adjectives and compound prepositions.

General Awareness

Indian geography, soil, rivers, mountains, ports, culture, religion, freedom movement, national facts, heritage, arts, history, defence, awards, discoveries, diseases, nutrition, current affairs, languages, capitals, currencies, abbreviations, personalities, sports and general science.

Reasoning

Spatial and numerical reasoning, associative ability, logical reasoning, sequences, spelling unscrambling, coding and decoding, seating arrangements, blood relations, inequalities, decision-making and input-output.

Professional Knowledge

Supply-chain management, receipt and storage procedures, requisitioning and distribution of materials, stores equipment, maintenance of ledgers and connected documents.

Two recent passport-size colour photographs

A separate self-addressed blank envelope with a Rs. 50 postal stamp affixed

Fill in the application form in English or Hindi.

Affix a self-attested recent colour photograph in the prescribed place.

Attach self-attested photocopies of the required documents.

Enclose two recent passport-size colour photographs.

Enclose a self-addressed blank envelope bearing a Rs. 50 postal stamp.

Write “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF FOREMAN OF STORES” in bold letters on the envelope.
