apan couldn’t have asked for a better start to this historic game. The players walk off the field high-fiving each other, delighted with what they have just managed to achieve – India have been restricted to just 32 in their 5 overs. All five overs were bowled by spinners and there was plenty of assistance on offer.

The ball turned from the very first delivery and not one of India’s batters was able to properly line them up. Abhishek was gone for a golden duck, Samson followed in the next over and Ishan didn’t last long either. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 16, but India never really got going. Now, the tables have turned. India’s bowlers have just 33 runs to defend, with Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi giving them three spin options.

But Japan know exactly what is in front of them. They have bowled brilliantly, they have a very manageable target and they have five overs to create what would be a massive upset.
