Dry Weather Prevails Across Jammu Kashmir, Isolated Rain Likely

Weather remained dry across Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, while the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast isolated light rain and thunderstorms over the Union Territory during the next 24 hours.

According to the weather bulletin issued on Sunday, maximum day temperatures remained 1 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal at many places in the Kashmir division and 0 to 1 degree Celsius above normal at many places in the Jammu division.

Kupwara recorded the highest maximum temperature in Kashmir at 30.0 degrees Celsius, while Kathua was the hottest in the Jammu division at 33.0 degrees Celsius.

Night temperatures, however, remained 1 to 2 degrees Celsius below normal at many places in Kashmir, while they were 0 to 1 degree Celsius around normal at many places in Jammu division.

Pahalgam recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Kashmir at 5.8 degrees Celsius, while Bhaderwah recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Jammu division at 10.2 degrees Celsius.

No precipitation was recorded during the past 24 hours, with the weather distribution remaining dry across J&K.

For the next 24 hours, the Meteorological Centre has forecast isolated light rain or thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir. The outlook for the following two days is for fairly widespread to isolated light rain or thunderstorms.

The seven-day forecast indicates isolated rain in Kashmir on September 27, scattered activity on September 28 and isolated activity on September 29, followed by dry weather on September 30 and October 1. Isolated activity is again expected on October 2 and 3.

In Jammu, isolated rain is forecast on September 27, fairly widespread activity on September 28 and isolated activity on September 29. Dry weather is expected on September 30 and October 1, followed by isolated activity on October 2 and 3.

The weather department has specifically warned of isolated thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40-50 kilometres per hour on September 28 in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions. No weather warning or significant impact has been forecast for the other days of the seven-day period.

For September 28, Srinagar is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky, with the maximum temperature around 28 degrees Celsius and minimum around 10 degrees Celsius.

Jammu is expected to have a generally cloudy sky with light rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius during the day and 20 degrees Celsius at night.

Muzaffarabad is likely to see generally cloudy conditions with very light rain or thunderstorms, with a maximum temperature of around 32 degrees Celsius and minimum of 19 degrees Celsius. Mirpur is forecast to have partly cloudy skies with light rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures around 31 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The bulletin was issued by the Meteorological Centre, Rambagh, Srinagar, at 11 am on September 27.

The department also provided sunrise and sunset timings for September 27-28. In Srinagar, sunrise on September 28 is expected at 6:23 am, while sunset on September 27 is at 6:21 pm. In Jammu, sunrise is at 6:22 am and sunset at 6:21 pm.
