TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 28-09-2026, 1800 hrs to 29-09-2026, 1800 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane, undulated/uneven surface of the road at Dhalwas, Udhampur, as well as the single-lane stretch between Morg and Kishtwar Pather. In addition, there was a breakdown of 04 vehicles between Akhnoor and Kishtwar Pather and the movement of 08 nomadic herds (Goatsy/Goat Nath).
Owing to the ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Morg to Kishtwar Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Traffic was managed in a regulated manner at Dhalwas, Udhampur on NH-44 due to the single lane, about 30–40 metres.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads from valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on the Qazigund–Ramban NHW axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of tanker-bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted on this stretch during daytime, i.e. between 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs, as the movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. As such, the movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs up to 0500 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.

Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time, as apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMV operators/owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 30-09-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs [Good carrier]) shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking/wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/SF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/CC/2026-27/578-80 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDM/K/2026-27/478-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies (NHAIDC), LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on the Kishtwar–Sinthan road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PPR Pandam towards Srinagar between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0500 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the DVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivComDev/100/2026/432-4410 dated 14-06-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Drass road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 0600 hrs and 1700 hrs. However, LMVs shall be allowed to move from Kargil towards Sonamarg between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFs convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after clearing clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings, as per the order issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADMPS/2026-27/31-31 dated 03-07-2026. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
