Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has invited applications from eligible candidates, including doctors, Non-PSC candidates and retired faculty, for engagement as Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor on an academic arrangement basis under S.O. 364 of 2020 and related government orders.
Advertisement Overview
The engagement will initially be for one year, which may be extended up to a maximum period of six years, one year at a time, subject to satisfactory performance and conduct. The arrangement will also remain in force only until regular selection/promotion is made through the competent authority, whichever is earlier.
Important: In-service candidates are not eligible to apply under these rules.

Eligibility and Important Conditions
Candidates must fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria applicable to the respective faculty position. Merely submitting an application and documents does not automatically establish eligibility. The final eligibility will be determined according to the prescribed selection criteria.
Applicants for Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor positions, including retired faculty members of government-recognized institutions/hospitals, must not be more than 67 years of age as on the date of issuance of the advertisement.
Documents Required
Applicants are required to attach self-attested copies of the relevant documents along with the application form and document checklist. The required documents include:
Date of Birth certificate/Matriculation certificate.
MBBS marks sheets, degree and MCI/State Medical Council registration certificate.

Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject along with the applicable medical registration certificate.
MBBS/MD/MS/M.Sc./Ph.D. attempt certificate and MBBS internship completion certificate.
MBBS marks cards from 1st Professional to Final year.
Teaching experience certificate as prescribed under Government Order No. 282-JK(HME) of 2023.
Research publications, oral/poster presentations and book/chapter writing credits, wherever applicable.
Gold Medal certificate for overall first position in MBBS, if applicable.
Higher qualification certificate such as DM, M.Ch, DNB or other super-speciality qualification.
Affidavit attested by a First Class Magistrate confirming that the doctor is not in active government service, submitted in original.
Domicile certificate of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Candidates may also be asked to provide additional documents if required by the Selection Committee during the recruitment process.
Application Fee
Applicants are required to attach a Bank Draft of Rs. 3,000 in favour of the Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu. The Bank Draft must be drawn from J&K Bank and submitted in the prescribed format.
Last Date to Apply
The completed application along with all required self-attested documents must reach the office of the Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, on or before 21 October 2026.
Candidates should ensure that all documents are clear, legible and arranged in the sequence specified in the advertisement. Documents submitted after the prescribed deadline, or documents that are illegible, damaged, washed out or misprinted, may not be considered.
Contract and Service Conditions
Selected candidates will have to enter into an agreement that they will not leave the department before completing one year of the contract.
If the arrangement is abandoned or terminated, one month’s prior notice is required from either side. Failure to provide the required notice may result in one month’s salary being withheld, with the amount released only after completion of the required conditions.
In cases involving misconduct, indiscipline, unsatisfactory performance or any action considered detrimental to the interests of the institution, the engagement may be terminated without prior notice.
Applicants must also provide a working mobile number and email ID in the application form. If documents are subsequently found to be false or unsupported, the candidature may be cancelled and further action may be taken under applicable rules.
Important Note for Previous Applicants
Candidates who had already applied in response to the earlier GMC Jammu notification dated 07 February 2026 for the post of Assistant Professor (Clinical Psychology) are not required to apply again. Their existing applications will also be considered under this notification.

The prescribed application form requires details including the candidate’s name, father’s/husband’s name, permanent and postal address, mobile number, Bank Draft details, date of birth, academic qualifications and total teaching experience. Candidates must also provide details of their experience as Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Lecturer and Registrar/Demonstrator/Tutor, wherever applicable.
The applicant must sign a declaration confirming that the information furnished is true and correct and acknowledging that misrepresentation or concealment of information can lead to cancellation of candidature.
