Jammu-Srinagar Highway Traffic Advisory 6th Oct 2026,NH-44, SSG Road, & Travel Guidelines

 

From 04-10-2026, 1800 hrs to 05-10-2026, 1800 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic movement at various points of the road at Dalwas, Udhampur as well as on the Ramban stretch between Marog and Kishwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 03 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal and the movement of 10 nomadic herds (crossing Nachlana-Ma).

Owing to ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishwari Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.

Traffic managed on regulated manner at Dalwas, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane about 30–40 minutes.

Passengers/L/MV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads from valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on Digdo-Khooni Nallah axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of tanker-bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted in this stretch during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs, as the movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. As such, the movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs up to 0500 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.

Goods carrier (HMV/LGV) operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners should check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 05-10-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HPVs/Private Cars/taxis (Good Carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking/wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.

Army Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244

As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/Ch/2026-27/58-58 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/K/2025-26/487-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies (R&B), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides viz. Kishtwar towards Sinthan-Anantnag road and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from P/P Panjran towards Anantnag between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Dakshum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.

TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

 

SSG ROAD

As per order issued by the DVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Kargil towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies, up to 1300 hrs. However, LMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to avoid any inconvenience. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

All concerned are advised to plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-144A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (R&B/PWD), vehicles moving from Poonch towards Shopian via Mughal Road from both sides i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa shall be allowed.

These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Poonch) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.

No vehicles shall be allowed to proceed after the cut-off timing.

As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/2025-26/2752-51 dated 02-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
