“Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds Expected in J&K,” MeT Issues Weather Alert

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast changing weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 10 days, with light rain, possible snowfall in higher reaches, thunderstorms and gusty winds expected at several places during the period.

According to the forecast, weather is likely to remain generally dry on October 9, although a brief spell of light rain may occur at a few places towards late night.

On October 10, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy, with light rain at scattered to many places and light snowfall possible over higher reaches. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also possible during the day.

The weather is forecast to remain generally dry on October 11 and 12.

Cloudy conditions are likely to return on October 13 and 14, when light rain, possible light snowfall over higher reaches, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected at many places.

The MeT has forecast generally dry weather on October 15, although a brief spell of light rain may occur at a few places. Conditions are expected to remain generally dry from October 16 to 18.

The weather department has cautioned about the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds on October 10 and October 13–14.

Meanwhile, the MeT has advised farmers to continue harvesting and ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy in view of the forecast weather conditions.
