Jammu-Srinagar Highway Traffic Advisory 15th Oct 2026,NH-44, SSG Road, & Travel Guidelines
Traffic Police Headquarters J&K, Jammu/Srinagar has issued a traffic advisory for October 15, 2026, regarding the movement of vehicles on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other important roads across Jammu and Kashmir. Commuters, passengers, transport operators and security forces have been advised to follow traffic regulations and check road conditions before starting their journeys.
Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 Traffic Update
From 13 October 2026, 1600 hours, to 14 October 2026, 1600 hours, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic, uneven road surfaces at Dhalwas, Udhampur, and single-lane stretches between Marog and Nashri Tunnel.
The movement of vehicles was also affected by the breakdown of six vehicles between Marog and Nashri Tunnel and the movement of eight nomadic herds crossing the Banihal–Nachlana stretch.
Due to the ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic movement on the stretch from Marog to Khooni Nallah is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Traffic was being managed in a regulated manner at Dhalwas, Udhampur, on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic, with vehicle movement at approximately 30–40 km/h.
Advisory for LMVs and Passenger Vehicles
Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), passenger vehicles and private cars are advised to plan their journeys on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway during daytime hours.
Night travel should be avoided due to the possibility of shooting stones and landslides, as well as movement of nomadic herds from valleys and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal. These conditions may cause inconvenience to commuters.
