Major fire breaks out at Shiv Market in Jammu, massive property loss reported

Jammu, Oct 26: An overnight fire damaged around 12 shops in Jammu’s Shiv Market area, breaking out around midnight on Monday, officials said.

An official said that a fire call was received around midnight, following which multiple Fire and Emergency Services vehicles were rushed to the spot.

He said around eight to ten fire tenders were engaged in firefighting operations and the blaze was brought under control after hours of hectic efforts.

“Around 12 shops were damaged in the incident. The exact number of shops damaged and the cause of the fire are being verified and an investigation is underway,” the official said.

Meanwhile, no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.—(KNO)
