Central University of Jammu Recruitment 2026

The Central University of Jammu has released an official recruitment advertisement inviting applications from eligible and interested candidates for two positions of Project Associate-I on a temporary basis under an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)-sponsored research project.

The recruitment is being conducted under the ISRO Geosphere Biosphere Programme – Aerosol Radiative Forcing over India (ISRO-GBP: ARFI). The project is titled “Regional Characterization of Atmospheric Aerosols from Selected Distinct Locations of India.”

The research project will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Shweta Yadav, Principal Investigator, Department of Environmental Sciences, Central University of Jammu.

Candidates possessing a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences or Earth Sciences are eligible to apply, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Overview :

Name of the Post

The university intends to fill the following positions under the sponsored research project:

Project Associate-I – 02 Posts

Both positions are temporary and project-based. Selected candidates will work on the research project concerning the regional characterization of atmospheric aerosols from selected locations across India.

Monthly Salary / Fellowship

Candidates selected for the Project Associate-I positions will receive a monthly fellowship according to their eligibility and qualification category.

The fellowship structure is as follows:

1. Rs. 37,000/- per month + HRA

This fellowship will be provided to scholars selected through any of the following examinations or processes:

• CSIR/UGC-NET (Assistant Professorship).

• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

• National-level selection examinations conducted by Central Government Departments, their agencies or institutions.

2. Rs. 30,000/- per month + HRA

Candidates who do not fall under the above-mentioned category will be eligible for a monthly fellowship of Rs. 30,000 plus House Rent Allowance (HRA).

The applicable fellowship will depend on the candidate’s eligibility under the prescribed categories.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Project Associate-I positions must possess a Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines:

Applicants must fulfil the prescribed educational qualification requirements before submitting their applications.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Apart from the essential educational qualifications, candidates having relevant research experience and technical knowledge will be preferred.

The following qualifications are desirable:

Candidates having practical exposure to atmospheric aerosol sampling, laboratory analysis and air quality research may have an advantage during the selection process.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be carried out based on the prescribed eligibility criteria and merit.

The important points regarding the selection process are:

• Candidates will initially be shortlisted for an interview based on merit.

• Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email.

• Merely fulfilling the minimum educational qualifications does not guarantee that a candidate will be called for an interview.

• The decision of the Selection Committee regarding shortlisting and selection will be final.

Candidates called for the interview must appear in person and bring their original degree certificates along with one set of photocopies.

They should also carry proof of date of birth and other relevant documents, including experience certificates, copies of publications (if any), awards and recommendation letters.

Important: No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending the interview.
