Ukraine-Russia War: Over 2,000 Ukrainian civilians died since Russia’s invasion began on Feb 24

Ukrainian emergency services said that more than 2,000 Ukrainian civilians have died since the Russian invasion began on February 24

Ukrainian emergency services said that more than 2,000 Ukrainian civilians have died since the Russian invasion began on February 24, reported India Today.

The announcement also said that hundreds of structures, including transport facilities, hospitals, kindergartens and homes have been destroyed in the ongoing bombing and attack.

The United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine said that, as of midnight on March 1, it had recorded 752 civilian casualties in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Thursday, March 3, said, “the Russian death toll has reached about 9,000.”

However, the Russian Defence Ministry confirmed casualties in Ukraine for the first time, on Wednesday, March 2. The ministry announced that 2,800 Ukrainian troops had died in the fighting and only 498 Russian troops were killed.

However, the numbers given by Russia and Ukraine cannot be verified independently, given the current ground scenario in Ukraine.
