Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for engagement as Assistant Professors/Teaching Assistants for the academic session 2022-23 on contract basis as an academic temporary arrangement on a consolidated salary as per University norms.

The engagement shall be in five Schools of the Cluster University of Jammu situated in five Constituent Colleges of the University in the following subjects: Physics; Chemistry; Geology; Mathematics; Zoology; Botany; Linguistics & Literature; English; Education; History (Cultural Heritage); Commerce.

The candidates shall apply through University Recruitment portal from 26/6/2022 to 2/7/2022 with an application processing fee of Rs 100/-

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL SUBJECTS:-
Eligibility :

Good Academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or
an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.

A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (physically and visually differently-abled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record. The
eligibility of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in appoint scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories motioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace marks procedures.

A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.

Provided that candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009, or the University Grants Commission
(Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulation,2016, and their subsequent amendments from time to time, as the case may be, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or any equivalent position in any University, College or Institution.

Provided further that the award of degree to candidates registered for the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances / Bye-laws / Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree. All
such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions:

The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in regular mode only;

The Ph.D. thesis has been awarded by at least two external examiners;

An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;

The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one is in a referred journal;

The candidate has presented at least two papers, based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency. The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.

The clearing of NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for candidates in such disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET has not been conducted.

The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii)
the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Note:

The Qualification for the subject of History shall be Master’s Degree in History/Museology/Archaeology with not less than 55% of marks. Preference will be given to candidates having Ph.D in Museology/Archaeology/Cultural History.

The Qualification for the subject of Linguistic & Literature shall be Master’s Degree in Linguistic/English with atleast 40% of Course Work in Linguistic with not less than 55% of marks. Preference will be given to candidates with additional knowledge of English
Literature.

The Qualification for one post in Education shall be M.Ed. with Master’s Degree in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics and for the second post, M.Ed. with Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences.

The Qualification for one post in Physics shall be Master’s Degree with specialisation in Electronics. In case of non-availability of such candidate, candidate with Master’s Degree in Electronics shall be considered.

The rest of the conditions prescribed at ‘A’ and ‘B’ above shall also be applicable for History, Education and Linguistic & Literature.

Salary: The Salary for the abovementioned Contractual posts shall be as per University norms.

Period of Engagement:

The period of engagement shall be up to the end of Academic Session 2022-23 or one year or the vacancy against which the appointment is made or filled up on regular basis whichever happens to be earlier.

Other Conditions

The number of posts to be filled up in each subject shall be decided as per requirement of the University.

Candidates in their own interest are advised to be in touch with the office of the Cluster University of Jammu to know about the date, venue and time of the interview.

The short listed candidates will be invited for the interview to be held in Cluster University of Jammu.

However, candidates seeking exemption from NET/SLET/SET are required to produce a bona-fide certificate from the concerned University(s) to the effect that the said candidate has been awarded PhD. Degree in conformity with the UGC Regulations
i.e. all the conditions laid down in University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for Award of PhD. Degree) Regulations, 2009 are fulfilled by them at the time of submitting their PhD, thesis).

The University reserves the right not to fill any of the vacancies advertised, if circumstances so warrant, without assigning any reason thereof.

In case the eligible candidates possessing NET/SET/SLET/PhD are not available/suitable, the candidates having Master’s degree with 55% may also be considered as Teaching Assistants. Their salary shall be as per University norms.

The engagement shall be terminable before the expiry of the contractual period with one (01) month’s notice from either side or on payment of one month’s salary in lieu of the notice period.

Unless engaged by the University for any other assignment, no salary shall be paid during the vacations within the contract period.

The candidates have to fill their credentials through online portal only. The Application form submitted through Post shall not be entertained.
