5G OTP scam; police warns citizens not to share otp with anyone

It is reported that the Police are advising against divulging the OTPs to scammers.

“This is to inform all the citizens that the Mobile Sim Card 5G service has been started, this is something you already know, some miscreants of cybercrime will call your mobile and tell you to update your Sim card from 4G to 5G and you will get an OTP. Do not provide OTP if asked,” the police said in an advisory.

“If you provide them with the OTP number they have sent you, within a few minutes, the company will immediately transfer funds from your bank account into theirs. Don’t share OTP with strangers. Please bring the details of your call to the attention of the closest police station,” it said.
