Eligibility Criteria :

Educational Qualification and Experience for Fabrication Assistants

Sheet Metal Worker:

Qualification : Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC (National Trade Certificate) in the trade of Sheet Metal Worker

Experience : Minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in fabrication, i.e. cutting, fit up and welding process

 

 

Welder:

Qualification : Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC (National Trade Certificate) in the trade of Welder/Welder (Gas & Electric)

Experience : Minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Educational Qualification and Experience for Outfit Assistants

Fitter: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Fitter with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Electrician: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Electrician with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Mechanic Diesel: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Mechanic Diesel with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Mechanic Motor Vehicle: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Mechanic Motor Vehicle with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Electronic Mechanic: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Electronic Mechanic with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Painter: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Painter with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Machinist: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Machinist with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Crane Operator: Pass in SSLC and ITI-NTC in the trade of Electrician or Electronic Mechanic or Instrument Mechanic with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in operation of cranes (Electrical)

Instrument Mechanic: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Instrument Mechanic with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Plumber: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Plumber with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Shipwright Wood: Pass in SSLC and ITI – NTC in the trade of Shipwright Wood or Carpenter with minimum of three years post qualification experience/training in the relevant trade

Important Points on Experience :

Experience acquired after the date of passing of the qualification stipulated as per the above requirements shall only be considered

Period of post qualification experience shall be reckoned as on 07 February 2026

The period of completed Apprenticeship Training in the relevant trade under the Apprentices Act 1961 and any training with remuneration shall be treated as experience for the purpose of meeting eligibility requirements for the posts

However, such training shall not be considered as experience for fixation of the consolidated remuneration per month

Salary/Stipend :

Basic Consolidated Pay: Rs. 23,300/- per month for candidates meeting the minimum experience requirement (i.e. 3 years)

Additional Compensation: Eligible for compensation for extra hours of work up to Rs. 5,830/- per month

Total Maximum Remuneration: Up to Rs. 29,130/- per month (Rs. 23,300 + Rs. 5,830)

Higher Pay Provision: For completed year of on roll experience in CSL or other similar Shipyards, over and above the minimum required experience, higher pay may be offered to the candidates

Age Limit (as on 07.02.2026) :

Maximum Age Limit: Shall not exceed 45 years as on 07 February 2026, i.e. applicants should be born on or after 08 February 1981

Age Relaxation for OBC (Non Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation in posts reserved for them

Age Relaxation for SC/ST: 5 years relaxation in posts reserved for them

Age Relaxation for PwBD & Ex-servicemen: As per Government of India guidelines subject to a maximum age of 50 years

Selection Process :

The method of selection shall be through Practical Test (100 Marks)

Depending upon the number of online applications received, CSL reserves the right to scrutinise applications for various posts and prepare shortlist of candidates based on meeting eligibility requirements

Candidates who successfully complete the certificate verification shall be shortlisted to attend the Practical Test, which shall be held at CSL, Kochi

 

Minimum Pass Marks for Practical Test:

For unreserved posts & for EWS candidates: 50% of Total Marks of Practical Test

For OBC candidates: 45% of Total Marks of Practical Test only for vacancies reserved for OBC

For SC/ST candidates: 40% of Total Marks of Practical Test only for vacancies reserved for SC/ST

For PwBD candidates: 40% of Total Marks of Practical Test

CSL may relax the minimum pass mark, if the number of qualified candidates are insufficient

The selection shall be subject to verification of eligibility requirements (age, educational qualification, experience, reservation etc.)

Candidates should produce the original certificates in proof of age, educational qualification, experience and certificates for reservation categories along with self-attested copies at the time of Certificate Verification

Rank list for each posts shall be prepared based on the marks secured by the candidates meeting the notified eligibility requirements and who pass in Practical Test

In case, same marks are secured by more than one candidate, relative merit shall be decided based on seniority in age

General Information/Instructions :

Period of Contract: The contract tenure of all posts are for a maximum period of five years subject to project requirements and individual performance

Place of Posting: The posting shall be at CSL/any other CSL units/project sites as desired by CSL. Candidates are liable to be transferred within different units of CSL

The appointment carries the obligation to serve in any department of CSL or on-board ships or in any of the units/work sites/projects undertaken in any part of India or abroad

The minimum qualification stipulated for all the posts must be from an Institute/Examination Board recognized by AICTE/appropriate statutory authority/State/Central Government

Those applicants having qualifications equivalent to any of the prescribed qualifications should submit Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority

Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) shall be as per Govt. of India Guidelines

Government of India Directives on reservation shall apply

In the case of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, the degree of disability should be a minimum of 40%

CSL reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of vacancies or not to fill up any of the vacancies or cancel the recruitment process, as per its requirement

No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for attending the selection process

Call letters shall not be sent to short-listed candidates by post. They shall be informed by e-mail/through CSL website to download call letter from www.cochinshipyard.in

The candidates short-listed for appointment should undergo a medical examination in the hospitals as prescribed by CSL

Rank lists shall be maintained for the post and the validity period of the rank list shall be up to 18 months from the date of reporting of the last candidate

The selected candidate is required to give an undertaking to comply with CSL policy on usage of smart phones at work place

Those who are currently working as Fabrication Assistants and Outfit Assistants, on rolls of CSL, as on date of this vacancy notification are not eligible to apply

Any legal proceedings can be instituted only in the Courts/Tribunals/Forums at Ernakulam and such Courts/Authorities shall have sole and exclusive jurisdiction

Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification

How to Apply :

Applicants should go through the User Manual and FAQ published in the link www.cochinshipyard.in (Career page → CSL, Kochi) before filling the online application

Applicants meeting the notified requirements may do the One time Registration in the SAP Online portal and submit their application

The facility to submit application can be accessed through website www.cochinshipyard.in (Career page → CSL, Kochi) from 21 January 2026 to 07 February 2026

Application submitted direct or by any other mode shall not be accepted

Applicants should ensure that all certificates towards proof of age, educational qualification, experience, caste etc. and a recent passport size colour photograph are uploaded in the SAP online application portal

Ensure that all the entries in the online application have been correctly filled in and application submitted successfully

Change in the data provided in the application after final submission through online will not be considered

Incomplete applications/withdrawn applications/applications in draft status shall not be considered

On successful submission of the application, the status shall be shown as “In process”

After applying through online, retain a soft copy/printout of the online application containing the unique registration number generated by the system

Applicants need not send the online application print out/certificates/application fee in the form of DD/Challan/Cheque by post to Cochin Shipyard Ltd

Applicants are advised to submit applications well in advance before the last date to avoid heavy traffic on the website

Those who apply on the last date may not get any troubleshooting assistance/technical support in SAP application portal by email/phone after 1600 hrs on the last date
