Eligibility Criteria :
Before applying for Indian Army JAG online form 2026, candidates must check the following eligibility requirements:
Nationality Requirements :
A candidate must be either:
Citizen of India, OR
Subject of Nepal, OR
Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam) with intention of permanently settling in India
Note: Categories (2) and (3) require certificate of eligibility from Government of India. Nepal Gorkha subjects don’t need certificate.
Educational Qualification
Essential Qualifications :
LLB Degree :
Three years professional after graduation, OR
Five years after 10+2
Minimum Marks: 55% aggregate in LLB Degree
Must be from College/University recognized by Bar Council of India
1.) CLAT PG 2025 Score :
MANDATORY for all candidates
Must have appeared for CLAT PG Exam 2025
Applicable to all candidates including:
LLM qualified candidates
LLM appearing candidates
All LLB degree holders
2.) Bar Council Registration :
Must be eligible for registration as advocate with Bar Council of India/State
Important Notes :
Only candidates holding LLB degree AND mark sheet are eligible
CLAT PG 2025 result verification mandatory at Selection Centre before SSB
Candidates unable to verify CLAT PG 2025 result will not be eligible for SSB
Candidature will be cancelled without representation
No provision for offline applications

Only Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or equivalent accepted
Date of birth as recorded on application submission date will be final
NO subsequent request for change will be considered
Important : No age relaxation mentioned in the notification
Marital Status
Men: Unmarried only
Women: Unmarried only
Marriage during training: Strictly prohibited
Marriage after application: Candidature will be cancelled even if SSB cleared
Marriage penalty: Discharge + refund of all government expenditure

Service Terms & Conditions – Indian Army JAG Entry 2026
Tenure of Engagement :
Short Service Commission Structure:
Initial Period: 10 Years
Extended Period: Additional 4 Years
Total Maximum: 14 Years
Permanent Commission (PC) Option:
Available after completion of 10 years
Subject to eligibility and suitability
As per policies issued from time to time
Not selected for PC = Option to continue as SSC for 14 years total
Released from Army after 14 years if not granted PC
Release Options :
1. After 5 Years of Service :
Application during 5th year of service
Army HQ considers on merits
Decision final and irrevocable
Released on completion of 5 years
Exception: Not applicable if undergone specialized course (cost must be recovered)
2. During Extended Tenure (10-14 Years): Release permitted for :
Taking up civil job
Pursuing higher education
Starting own business/joining family business
3. After 10 Years :
Can opt for release if not selected for PC
Can continue for full 14 years
4. After 14 Years :
Compulsory release if not granted PC
Probation & Terms :
Probation Period: 6 months from commissioning date
Termination Rights: Government can terminate commission anytime for:
Misconduct or unsatisfactory service
Medical unfitness
Services no longer required
Failure to qualify in prescribed test/course
Compassionate grounds (3 months notice, no terminal gratuity)
Reserve Liability :
After release, officers carry reserve liability to serve:
Duration: 5 years plus 2 years on voluntary basis
Age Limit: Up to 37 years (women) / 40 years (men), whichever is earlier
Bond Requirements :
No advance bond mentioned
Specialized course training cost recovery if leaving early
Marriage during training = Discharge + refund of all expenses

Training Cost
- Government Expense: Entire training cost
- Withdrawal Penalty: If withdrawn for personal reasons (not medical/beyond control):
- Cost recovery: ₹20,482/- per week (as of 2026)
- Calculated for period of stay at OTA
- Subject to periodic revision
Post-Training Allocation
- Arms/Services Allocation: Made before passing out from OTA

Selection Process for Indian Army JAG Entry 2026
The selection for Indian Army JAG vacancy 2026 will be conducted through following stages:
Stage 1: Online Application
Application Period: 27 Jan 2026 (1500 Hrs) to 27 Feb 2026 (1500 Hrs)

- Select ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’
- Click ‘Apply’ for Short Service Commission JAG Entry Course
- Fill all segments carefully
- Save & Continue after each segment
- Review summary
- Submit application
- Take 2 printouts with Roll Number
Important: Application closure time is 1500 Hrs on 27 Feb 2026. Submit well in advance.
Stage 2: Shortlisting for SSB
Shortlisting Timeline: Second week of March 2026
Shortlisting Criteria:
- Based on CLAT PG 2025 scores
- Vacancy to call-up ratio
- Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves right to shortlist without assigning reasons
CLAT PG 2025 Verification:
- Mandatory at Selection Centre before SSB
- Failure to verify = Candidature cancelled
- No representation entertained
Stage 3: SSB Centre & Date Selection
Selection Period: Two weeks in May 2026
Process:
- Login to website after shortlisting
- Select SSB Centre and Date
- First come, first serve basis
- Once selected, cannot be changed
- No request for change entertained

Validity: 270 days (SSB to PCTA joining)

Re-examination:
- Not required if already declared ‘Med FIT’ for any SSB of any service within 270 days
- Valid till 01 Oct 2026 (joining date of this course)
Medical Board: Proceedings confidential, not divulged to anyone
Stage 6: Merit List Preparation
Criteria:
Primary: SSB interview marks
Tie-breaker 1: Older candidate ranked higher
Tie-breaker 2: Higher percentage in qualifying exam (if age also same)
Note: Higher educational qualifications, previous performance have NO role
Stage 7: Joining Letter
Issued to:

Medically fit
