IUST Advertisement for the Nomination to Ramalingaswami Re-Entry Fellowship
Applications along with a detailed proposal are invited from bright and eligible Indian nationals intending to seek nominations from IUST (as a host institute) for the prestigious Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship (DBT-RRF), a re-entry scheme of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Research Themes :
The interested candidates must propose interdisciplinary research that integrates biology with other scientific and technological domains, bridging traditional boundaries and addressing complex biological questions through innovative approaches. The candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following thematic areas :
i. Multi-omics, Precision Medicine, & AI
ii. Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering
iii. Structure-Based Drug Discovery & AI/ML
iv. Wearable Biosensors and Digital Health Innovations
v. Neurobiology
vi. Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine
vii. Infection & Immunity
viii. Vaccines and Immunotherapy
ix. Organoids and Lab-Grown Tissues for Disease Modelling
x. Climate Change and Emerging Infectious Diseases
xi. Quantum mechanics and Biological Processes
xii. Biophotonics and Cellular Communications
xiii. Genomics, AI-driven bioinformatics, and Human adaptation to extreme climates
Candidates shall be screened based on the merit of the proposal and the publications. If required, the prospective candidates shall be invited for an online/offline presentation to interact with the University Selection Committee. The short-listed candidates will be provided with a host-institution endorsement certificate for applying to the Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship. If selected, the University will provide all necessary administrative and basic R&D infrastructural facilities for the duration of the fellowship; however, the rest of the terms and conditions will be as per the fellowship norms set by the awarding agency. The university has
a policy in place for the permanent absorption of the fellows as Assistant Professors on Non-Plan budget at the end of fellowship tenure, provided that the Fellows meet the eligibility requirements as required for the post of Assistant Professor in the university and will have to appear before the duly constituted Selection Committee.
Eligibility
• The applicant must possess a Ph.D./M.D., or equivalent degree and have at least three years of post-doctoral research experience. The applicant should also have an outstanding track record, as evidenced by publications and other awards.
• Only candidates (Indian nationals) who are employed abroad are eligible to apply. Those who have already returned to India within one year (two years for women candidates) of the closing date of this advertisement but without a job are also eligible.
• The upper age limit for applying is 45 years as on the closing date of the application.
