Inviting Applications under the Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme.

The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages invites applications from eligible veteran artists and tradition bearers of rare and vanishing art forms of Jammu & Kashmir for the prestigious Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme.

The scheme aims to transmit the valued traditions of Jammu and Kashmir to the coming generations, to preserve and promote endangered traditional art forms by providing financial assistance for training of young disciples under the guidance of experienced Gurus. Each Guru will be expected to train five to eight shishyas in the chosen field of activity / art form.

Financial Assistance (Per Month) for one year for each art form extendable by one year after review.

• Guru (Mentor): Rs 10,000

• Accompanist/Assistant: Rs 7,500

• Shishya (Disciple): Rs 5,000

Eligibility criteria for age:

• Guru: Minimum age 45-70 years

• Assistant / Accompanist: 18 to 45 years

• Shishya (Disciple): 15 to 25 years

Eligible Traditional Art Forms Include (but are not limited to):

Bhakhan, Bhagtian, Dhamali Dance, Bhand Pather, Haran Dance, Geetru, Ladi Shah, Dastan, Bach-e-Nagma, Kaarkan, Surmai, Flute, Rabab, Santoor, Kashmiri Sarangi, Kashmiri Sufiyana, Pahari Baar, Gojri Bait, Jodi (Twin flutes), Basohli Paintings, Miniature Paintings, Masadhe, Chhajja, Sugli, Guria, Sirazi Folk Dance.(preference shall be given to Bhagtaan, Ladi Shah, Massadey, Hafiz Nagma, Kashmiri Sufiana Mousiqui and Kaarkaan)

Who Can Apply:

• Veteran practitioners (Gurus) of the listed above who are capable to train the interested shishyas.*

How to Apply:

Eligible applicants shall submit a prescribed application form to the Secretary, JKAACL, clearly mentioning the art form they propose to teach or learn under the scheme. The application must be accompanied by:

• A detailed bio-data of the applicant (Guru/ Accompanist/ Shishya)

• Experience and background in the relevant traditional art form

• Details of proposed disciples (in case of Gurus)

• Any other supporting documents or certificates, if available.

Preference shall be given to the applicants who are/ have not been assisted by Ministry Of Culture Government of India or any other Government agency.
