Job Recruitment in National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS)
National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) – Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research invites eligible and interested candidates for appearing in Walk-in for the following posts on a contract basis in research facilities.
The appointment will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.
1.Facility Assistant – (03 Nos:):
Biosafety facility (01 No.)
Job Description:
a. Maintaining biosafety facility – II and III in good working condition, in compliance with DBT norms
b. Managing campus biosafety facilities
c. Training biosafety Facility users.
d. Conducting appropriate biosafety training programs.
Electron microscopy (02 Nos.)
Job Description:
a. Acquisition of images in electron microscopes for research purposes.
b. Upkeep and upgradation of the facility.
c. Training students and scientists and other users of the facility.
d. Develop and modernize the facility both at technical and management levels.
e. Training other personnel and students to use the instruments.
f. Help organize annual training workshops for out-campus users.
2. Facility Associate– (06 Nos.)
Electron microscopy (01 No.)
Job Description:
The detailed deliverables are as follows:
1. Working with Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy, and MicroCT.
The activities include
a. Discussion and optimization of image acquisition
b. Tissue sample preparation
c. Procurement of requisite consumables
d. Quality assurance
2. Training other personnel and students to use the instruments
3. Help organize annual training workshops for out-campus users
Research Collection Facility (01 No.)
Job Description:
a. Provide a core facility for biodiversity-related work by NCBS labs.
b. Support field research in contemporary and frontier areas of ecology, evolution, and conservation genetics.
c Other selected activities required from time to time.
d. Curation activities at the NCBS collection.
Experience required in curating biological specimens, their upkeep and acquiring new specimens for the collections. Experience in carrying out field work and knowledge of insect species will be preferred.
Drosophila facility (04 Nos.)
Job Description:
Following activities should be performed:
a. Generation of transgenic and mutant flies
b. Fly stock maintenance
c. Technology development in Drosophila genetics
d. Training the researchers of BLiSc and outside on need by need basis.
e Helping the researchers of BLiSc in import/export of fly stocks.
f. Other selected activities required from time to time.
3. Facility Lab Assistant (1 No.):
