Eligibility Criteria :

To apply for the NIELIT Staff Car Driver Recruitment 2026, candidates must strictly meet the following eligibility requirements as of the closing date (26/02/2026).

Educational Qualification & Experience

Education: You must have passed the 10th Standard (Matriculation) from a recognized Board.

Driving License: Possession of a valid Driving License for Motor Car is mandatory.

Experience: Experience of driving a motor car for at least three years.

Desirable: Three years of service as a Home Guard or Civil Volunteer is preferred (but not mandatory).

Age Limit (As on 26/02/2026)

Minimum Age: 18 Years

Maximum Age: 25 Years

Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable for Government Servants and Ex-servicemen as per Central Government rules (up to 40 years for Central Govt employees with 3 years of service).

Selection Process Explained :

The selection procedure for the NIELIT Driver Vacancy is designed to test both your mental aptitude and driving skills. It consists of two main stages:

Tier 1: Written Test (Objective Type)

This is the first stage of screening.

Mode: OMR Based or Computer Based Test.

Total Questions: 120 MCQs.

Duration: 2 Hours.

Negative Marking: There is NO negative marking in this paper.

Syllabus:

General Awareness (20 Marks)

General Intelligence & Elementary Maths (20 Marks)

General English or General Hindi (30 Marks)

Traffic Rules, Driving Techniques & Motor Mechanism (50 Marks)

Tier 2 : Skill Test

Candidates who qualify the written exam (cutoff is 25% for General/EWS) will be called for the Skill Test in a ratio of 1:5 (5 candidates for 1 post).

Nature: Qualifying only (Marks not added to final merit).

Tests: Driving skills, knowledge of motor mechanics, traffic rules, and ability to identify/remove minor vehicle defects.
