4351 Teaching Posts Vacant in Education department, J&K : Govt
The J&K government on Friday revealed in the Lower House that 4351 posts of teachers and lecturers were vacant in the school education department.
The government said that 3126 posts of teachers and 1225 posts of lecturers were unfilled in the school education department.
It was revealed in a written reply from education minister Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari to a query raised by MLA Abdul Majeed Padder during the question hour.
The 3126 teacher vacancies as per the government reply include 2581 general line teachers and 545 sarva shiksha abhiyan (SSA) vacancies.
Out of 2581 vacancies of general line teachers, 1864 vacant posts of direct recruitment quota of Kashmir division have been recently referred to SSB for selection of suitable candidates,” the minister in his reply said.
He further informed the House that SSA vacancies will be filled as per the guidelines of the scheme.
“The scheme-specific vacancies occurred due to upgradation of SSA schools and are being up shortly filled up under relevant guidelines,” he said.
The minister in his reply further informed the House that 1255 posts- 593 direct promotion and 632 promotion quota of 10+2 lecturers – were also vacant in Kashmir division in various disciplines under direct recruitment and promotion quota.
1059 posts of 10+2 lecturers of various disciplines under direct recruitment were referred to PSC in 2016 out of which the selection and appointment orders in for 915 candidates have been issued,” the minister said.
