Cloudy weather and light rain from June 13 in J&K
According to the Meteorological department, the weather in Jammu and Kashmir is generally cloudy and cooler than the previous day, with light rain occurring in some places. The areas experiencing light rain include Jammu, Akhnoor, and Katra, while the rest of the places are currently cloudy. Today’s weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with the possibility of light rain in some areas. It will be cooler compared to yesterday.
The MeT office forecasts that on June 12, the weather is likely to be dry, but a brief spell of showers or thunderstorms, mainly towards the evening, cannot be ruled out, although the chances are relatively low at 20-30 percent.
From June 13-17, intermittent light rain is expected in scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir. However, there is no forecast of any major rainfall during this week.
In the past 24 hours, the day and night temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir have been recorded as 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal.
Srinagar had a low temperature of 16.6 degrees Celsius, which was 2.3 degrees Celsius above the normal of 14.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The maximum temperature in Srinagar was also 2.3 degrees Celsius above normal at 28.0 degrees Celsius.
Other areas in Jammu and Kashmir recorded similar temperature deviations.
Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low temperature of 14.8 degrees Celsius, which was 1.9 degrees Celsius above normal.
Pahalgam had a low temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius, which was 2.1 degrees Celsius above normal.
Kokernag recorded a low temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees Celsius above normal, and
Kupwara had a low temperature of 16.0 degrees Celsius, which was 3.4 degrees Celsius above normal.
Gulmarg had a low temperature of 11.0 degrees Celsius, which was 2.2 degrees Celsius above normal.
Jammu recorded a low of 24.1°C against 27.9°C on the previous night and it was 1.6°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.
