Jammu Dead Bodies: 5 from Doda, 1 of Barzulla Sgr; SIT Constituted

The bodies and remains of six persons, including one woman, her two daughters as well as a son were found in two homes in the Sidhra area in Jammu.

Five of the dead were residents of Marmat Doda as well as one comes from the Barzulla region of Srinagar officials told local newscaster .

The manner in which they died and the long the bodies lay in the two homes were not known immediately. Police have formed the Special Investigation Team to unravel the mystery behind the deaths.

Giving details leading to the recovery of the bodies, a police official stated that around 10 pm an emergency call was received from a woman living in Barzulla Srinagar. The woman was concerned that her brother, namely Noor-ul Habib did not answer her calls. She is concerned about something untoward incident happening to him.

The officer claimed that police officers that were from Sidhra as well as Nagrota police stations were able to reach the scene and found the door of the house was locked from inside.

While conducting the inspection of the house, it was discovered that there was a smell of rotten food emanating from the home. “The doors of the house were forcibly broke open in presence of locals of Tawi Vihar Colony Sidhra,” the officer said, adding that “It was found by the police party that the dead bodies are lying in the house.”

On this point, he added that a team comprising FSL and photographers from The Crime Section of PCR were called.

The residents of the region have informed that the four dead bodies are of Noor-ul-Habib son of Habib Ullah, Sakina Begum Widow of Ghulam Hassan, Sajad Ahmed son of Farooq Ahmed Magray and Nassema Akhter daughter of Ghulam Hassan.

The locals also informed that there is another house that belongs to one of the deceased, the police officer said.

The police team went to the scene opened the door and discovered two bodies that were identified to be Rubina Bano, as well as their twin brother Zafar Salim.

As for the relationship the deceased were Sakina Begum and her two daughters, Naseema Akhter and Rubina Bano Zafar Salim, her son and two other people- Noor Ul Habib, and Sajad Ahmad.

“In-depth probe has started so as to ascertain the cause as well as motive behind it and to find the reasons for the same,” the officer stated.

Senior Police Officers, including SSP Jammu Chandan Kolhi (IPS) was also on the scene and supervised an investigation to investigate the matter. The bodies were taken into GMC Jammu for autopsy and will be transferred to the legal successors upon completion of legal and medical procedures as per the official.

An SIT comprised of Sanjay Sharma (SP Rural), Pardeep Kumar (SDPO Nagrota) and inspector Vishav Partap (SHO Nagrota) and SI Majid Hussain (IC PP Sidhra) was set up to investigate the incident according to the officer.

“Prima facie it appears to be a case of poisoning, though it has to be ascertained whether it is a case of forced poisoning or otherwise,” the officer said.
