4.9 magnitude earthquake hits Jammu and Kashmir

A mild earthquake tremors were felt in Kashmir valley on Sunday, creating panic among several residents.

The jolts of earthquakes were felt in most parts of the valley around 11:20 A.M. The estimated magnitude of the Earthquake was 4.9 on the Richter scale and countries including Turkmenistan, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan were affected.
According to India’s National Center for Seismology, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 was reported near Fayzabad, Afghanistan on Sunday morning.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 79 km southeast (SE) of Fayzabad, Afghanistan, the agency said. The earthquake struck at 11:19 AM IST at a depth of 220 km from the surface.(KNS).
