Kashmir University suspends class work for two days

Five Hizb militants, including a professor working in the sociology department of the Kashmir University, were killed during a gunfight with militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir today.

Class work at the University of Kashmir shall remain suspended on May 7 and 8 as a precautionary measure, said a spokesman.

The professor, identified as Muhammad Rafi Bhat, was reported missing on Friday afternoon. His disappearance had triggered protests at the varsity yesterday.
