Panel established to examine engagement vocational trainers

The government has set up an advisory committee to look into the engagement of vocational trainers, as well as their conditions and terms.

“Sanction is hereby accorded for the constitution of a committee to review the /engagement of Vocational Trainers and their term and Conditions,” it was reported by an agency for local news, Kashmir News Observer.

According to the order, Project Director Samagra Shiksha, J-K’s Project Director, will be Chairman of the Committee, along with the Deputy Director (Planning) School Education Department J-K, Civil Secretariat Chief Accounts Officer Samagra Shiksha as well as the Under Secretary (M). School Education, Department, Civil Secretariat, J-K as its members.

“The terms of reference of the committee shall be to go through the whole process of engagement of Vocational Trainers particularly the implementation of the labour laws like Provident Fund, increment, leave/Maternity leave etc, to assess the feasibility of Haryana Government’s Model/Policy for Vocational Trainers for its implementation in the UT of J&K,” it added.

The committee would furnish its report/recommendations within a month with focus on making the policy more clear and transparent, the order said.

Vocational trainers said to KNO that they had been protesting for a long time and authorities heard their complaints on the 11th of August and promised that the issues would be addressed.

They also said that the committee has been formed in addition to the committee and will help in the solving all of their issues.

Vocational teachers have been protesting continuously and demanding job-related policies as well as the removal of vocational training partners since they believe they have no place in vocational education.
