Pay the pending electricity bills or face police case: KPDCL

Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited has warned of severe action against people who default on the electricity bills due in the Old Town area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A senior official informed the news organization, KNO that the KPDCL has issued a circular requesting those who are in default of the Old Town area to pay the electricity bills that are pending or a case will be filed against them.

“It is to inform all Mohalla presidents to advise the defaulter consumers of your Mohalla to pay your pending electricity bills immediately, otherwise FIR in the police station Baramulla will be lodged against the defaulters” according to the circular.

The official stated the number of customers who reside in the Old Town area of the district who haven’t paid any electricity bills for the last few years.

The defaulters are those who haven’t deposited electric bills for 6 months or more, despite numerous notices.

The official also said that at the very least 697 customers haven’t paid their bills over the last few years, while about 130 have availed of the amnesty program to date
