Weekend Lockdown in Jammu

Order under section 144 of CrPC read with section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 . connection with Weekend Lockdown in Jammu – regarding

Whereas, it has been made to appear to me, in view of the situation emerging due to COVID-19 in and around District Jammu in the recent days, that there is sufficient ground for proceeding under Section 144 of CrPC for immediate prevention or speedy remedy is desirable to prevent danger to human life, health or safety; and

Whereas, section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, also empowers the undersigned to issue certain directions for safety and preventing any harm to human life; and

Whereas it has been felt, based on wider consultation with the Chief Officer, Sr. Epidemiologists and other health profession.s, that stricter social distancing norms during the weeks days and strict lockdown during weekends need to be followed to prevent any further spike in the COVID cases.

Now, therefore, I, Sushma Chauhan, IAS, District Magistrate, Jammu, vide powers conferred upon me under section 144 of CrPC read with section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, do hereby order the following, from 6 pm on all Fridays till 6 am on all Mondays, beginning from the Friday falling 00 24/7/2020:.

that there shall be complete restriction on movement of

individuals, vehicles and all activities withioo the entire jurisdiction of district Jammu, except the movement for emergency medical requirements for which no pass etc., is required
