Biometric Face Checks to Be Used in UPSC Exams

All candidates appearing for recruitment examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will now be verified through facial authentication at examination centres, officials announced on Saturday.

The move is aimed at further enhancing the transparency and security of the examination process.

According to a notice published on the UPSC’s official website, facial verification will be mandatory for every candidate taking UPSC exams at the venue.

The Commission had earlier tested the technology through a pilot project during the NDA and Naval Academy (II) Examination 2025 and the Combined Defence Services (CDS II) Examination 2025, held on September 14, 2025.

The trial was carried out at selected centres in Gurugram, where candidates’ live facial images were digitally compared with the photographs uploaded during the application process.
