CUET UG 2026 syllabus Released
CUET UG 2026 Syllabus Announced by NTA
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the syllabus for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026. Students planning to appear for the exam next year can now access and download the subject-wise syllabus from the official website, cuet.nta.nic.in. As per expectations, the CUET UG 2026 examination is likely to be conducted in May 2026.
CUET UG serves as the primary entrance examination for admission to undergraduate programmes in central universities and many other participating institutions across the country.
With the syllabus being released well ahead of time, aspirants now have a valuable opportunity to plan their preparation more effectively. The detailed syllabus outlines all topics to be covered in each subject, reducing uncertainty for students. NTA has advised candidates to carefully review the syllabus and align their studies accordingly. For most domain subjects, the syllabus is largely based on the Class 12 curriculum. Students are encouraged to rely strictly on the official syllabus to avoid unnecessary stress and confusion.
CUET UG 2026 exam pattern
CUET UG 2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, with all questions in multiple-choice format.
The exam will be divided into separate sections for Languages, Domain Subjects, and the General Test. Candidates can select subjects based on the requirements of their chosen course and university.
Each paper will contain a fixed number of questions, and candidates must attempt a specified number in each section. The exam duration will depend on the number of subjects opted for.
Marks will be awarded for correct answers, and negative marking for incorrect responses is expected, in line with previous years. The exact marking scheme will be detailed in the official information bulletin.
Candidates should also note that individual universities decide the weightage given to each section. It is important to check the admission criteria of the preferred university before finalising subject choices.
Next steps for students
Aspirants should download the syllabus as early as possible and begin their preparation in a structured manner. NCERT textbooks should remain the primary study resource for domain subjects. Regular practice through mock tests will help improve both speed and accuracy.
NTA is expected to release the CUET UG 2026 information bulletin and application schedule in the coming months. Students are advised to regularly visit the official website for the latest updates.
Subject-wise syllabus PDFs released
NTA has made available separate PDFs for each subject under CUET UG 2026. These can be downloaded free of cost from the official CUET website.
The syllabus is structured into three main sections: Languages, Domain Subjects, and the General Test.
Language subjects include English along with several Indian and foreign languages. This section evaluates reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and basic writing abilities. It focuses on a studentβs ability to understand passages and use language accurately and effectively.
Domain subjects are drawn from topics taught in Classes 11 and 12. These cover a wide range of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Computer Science, and Environmental Studies. NTA has released individual PDFs for each domain subject, clearly listing all chapters and topics required for preparation.
The General Test section includes questions on general knowledge, current affairs, logical reasoning, numerical ability, and basic mathematics. This section assesses analytical thinking and awareness of current events.
Students are advised to download only the syllabi relevant to the subjects they intend to choose. A thorough reading of the prescribed topics will help prevent studying beyond what is required.
