Slams NC and Congress for Backing Article 370
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated his party’s strong stance on Jammu and Kashmir, declaring that the region has always been an integral part of India and will remain so.
While releasing party menifesto for Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said, “Since Independence, Jammu & Kashmir has been important for our party. We have always tried to keep this land intact with India. Our party believes that J&K has always been part of India and it will remain so.”
Reflecting on the challenges the region has faced, he remarked, “Till 2014, J&K always remained in the shadow of separatism and terrorism. Different state and non-state actors kept the state unstable. All the governments dealt with the state with a policy of appeasement.” Shah highlighted the post-2014 period as a significant turning point for the region, stating, “Whenever the history of J&K will be written, these ten years after 2014 will be marked as a golden period for the state.”
Shah also announced several welfare schemes aimed at benefiting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “We have decided that we will bring ‘Ma Samman Yojana’ to give Rs 18,000 to the eldest lady of every family, each year. We will give two free cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme, per year. Under Pragati Shiksha Yojana, we will provide Rs 3,000 to college students per year, as a travelling allowance.”
Taking a direct jab at the National Conference (NC) and Congress, Shah asserted that Article 370, which granted special status to J&K, is a thing of the past. “I have seen the NC’s agenda. I have also seen Congress silently supporting NC’s agenda. But, I want to say to the country that Article 370 is history, it will never return, and we won’t let it happen. Article 370 was the thing that gave weapons and stones in the hands of the youth,” he declared.
Shah’s statements underline his party’s firm commitment to ensuring the integration of J&K with the rest of India and addressing the needs of its citizens through various welfare programs. (KB)
