Cloud Cover Brings Improvement in Night Temperatures Across Kashmir, Srinagar Rises to 0.4°C
After days of intense cold, Kashmir witnessed a notable improvement in night temperatures due to cloud cover, with several stations recording a slight rise, officials said on Friday.
According to the data compiled by independent weather channel Kashmir Weather, as per news agency that, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4°C, marking a significant relief from harsher nights earlier this week. Qazigund also improved to -0.2°C, while Pahalgam settled at -1.8°C, still colder but comparatively better than previous readings. Kupwara logged 0.2°C, Kokernag 0.8°C, and Gulmarg registered 0.0°C, hovering around the freezing point.
Some stations, however, continued to remain deeply cold. Pampore dipped to -3.0°C, Srinagar Airport to -1.0°C, and Awantipora to -1.2°C. Budgam recorded -0.6°C, while Anantnag settled at -1.3°C. Baramulla marked 1.8°C, whereas Bandipora stood at -0.6°C. Pulwama and Shopian experienced sharper cold at -2.6°C and -2.5°C respectively. Ganderbal recorded -0.2°C, Sonamarg dipped to -1.2°C, and Zethan Rafiabad registered -1.4°C. The coldest among all remained Zojila Pass, freezing at -18.0°C.
In the Jammu region, temperatures stayed comparatively milder. Jammu recorded 8.8°C, Banihal 1.2°C, and Batote 5.5°C. Katra logged 8.5°C, while Bhaderwah remained chilly at 1.9°C. Kathua settled at 6.8°C and Jammu Airport at 9.5°C. Udhampur recorded 3.6°C, Ramban 4.8°C, Samba 3.0°C, Rajouri 2.6°C, and Kishtwar 6.0°C. Reasi stood at 7.0°C, while Doda’s data remained unavailable.
The Ladakh region continued to experience extreme cold weather conditions. Leh recorded -7.2°C, Kargil -6.2°C, and Nubra Valley -5.4°C. Drass stood at -5.7°C, Padum at -9.1°C, and Nyoma plunged to -15.2°C. Stakna reported -7.6°C, Tangste -10.3°C, Upshi -10.1°C, Chuchot -8.3°C, and Khaltse -4.1°C. Garkone, however, recorded a comparatively milder 0.6°C.
