Generally, the government announces the DA hike in March, but this year the announcement has not come yet. Why Is There a Delay in the DA Hike?
Normally, the DA hike is announced around March. However, the absence of an official update so far does not necessarily mean an unusual delay. The DA revision process depends entirely on inflation data and subsequent government approvals. The final decision is taken only after the complete 12-month inflation data is available and all necessary approvals are in place.
Based on current estimates, DA could rise close to 60%, and employee associations believe an increase of 3% to 4% is possible.
Employees Will Not Face Any Loss
The most important point is that even if the announcement is delayed, employees will not suffer any financial loss. The DA hike will be considered effective from January 2026, and the pending amount will be paid as arrears in a lump sum. This means that even with a delayed announcement, employees will receive the full benefit. At present, the delay appears to be purely procedural.
