DSEJ Seeks Syllabus Relief For Winter Zone Schools In Jammu Division

The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has written to the Secretary, J&K Board of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir, recommending academic relief for students of winter zone schools in the Jammu division.

In its communication, the DSEJ conveyed that after seeking suggestions from all Chief Education Officers of the division, it was unanimously agreed that the syllabus for the current academic session should be reduced by 15 to 20 percent.
The Directorate further proposed that instead of deleting specific topics—which may lead to disparities as different schools have covered different portions—students may be provided open choice in examinations.
The letter stressed that such a measure would ensure fairness across schools, help students in better understanding and retention of the prescribed content, and ease academic stress while promoting improved mental health and well-being among learners.
The DSEJ has requested the Secretary, J&K Board of School Education to consider devising a suitable mechanism to grant the necessary relief, either by syllabus reduction, open choice in examinations, or through any other concession deemed appropriate in the interest of students.
Request for leniency in Examination and reduction of syllabus.
