DSEK Directs Schools to Compensate Parents for Forcing Private Publisher Books
The Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Naseer Ahmad Wani, has issued a strong directive: any school that compelled parents to buy books from private publishers instead of the government-prescribed NCERT textbooks will now have to compensate them.
Wani said the department has taken parents’ complaints seriously and assured that strict action will follow against schools violating norms.
“No institution is allowed to prescribe books outside the NCERT curriculum. Those responsible will have to compensate,” he stated in Srinagar.
He also clarified that matters related to winter transportation fees and other charges fall under the Fee Fixation Committee, and parents can directly lodge complaints for action.
