Essential Commodities Supply in Focus as Div Com Kashmir Conducts Review
To maintain seamless availability of essential commodities across the Kashmir Valley, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review current stock positions and strengthen supply mechanisms.
The meeting focused on improving public interface systems to facilitate better monitoring and analysis of demand–supply patterns.

Deputy Commissioners from all districts, the Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner Central, representatives of medical institutions and universities, officials from the Agriculture Department, and sales officers from oil marketing companies—including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited—participated in the review.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the district-wise availability of petroleum products and LPG at company depots. The Joint Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), informed that the combined stock of Motor Spirit (MS) stands at 6,919 KL, sufficient for nearly 13.6 days, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) stocks of 12,980 KL can meet demand for around 18.5 days. LPG availability was reported at 4,371 metric tonnes, adequate for approximately 15.6 days.
Regarding foodgrain reserves, it was stated that stocks at Food Corporation of India depots are sufficient to last about 65 days.
On LPG eKYC verification, officials reported that 1,107,947 verifications have been completed, with 877,145 cases still pending. The Divisional Commissioner directed concerned agencies to fast-track the remaining verifications within a fixed timeline, utilizing Common Service Centres (CSCs).
He further instructed oil companies to strictly ensure home delivery of LPG cylinders and to take firm action against unauthorized spot deliveries. To address peak demand, he also ordered that the Pampore HPCL plant remain operational on Sundays.

Emphasizing accurate inventory management, the Divisional Commissioner called for immediate reconciliation of mismatches between physical stocks at distribution points and system records maintained by oil marketing companies. He also directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure uninterrupted supply of commercial LPG to key institutions, including Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Government Medical College, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, University of Kashmir, Central University of Kashmir, hospitals, and other educational establishments.
The Joint Director Agriculture informed the meeting that fertilizer stocks are adequate for the forthcoming Kharif season and are being replenished regularly.
Additionally, the Divisional Commissioner underlined the importance of protecting the interests of workers in industrial and service sectors, directing authorities to ensure that labourers are neither laid off nor denied timely wages.
He also instructed FCS&CA officials to compile and analyze supply and demand data from the past 15 days to assess consumption trends and support data-driven decision-making.
