Fresh Western Disturbance Likely to Bring Light Rain, Snow to Parts of J&K: MeT
Weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir remained largely as forecast on Monday, with no snowfall reported in the plains due to comparatively higher temperatures, officials said.
According to the Meteorological Department (MeT), the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance may result in light rain or snowfall at isolated places between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, mainly affecting parts of north Kashmir.
Officials said that if any precipitation occurs in the plains during night hours, it could briefly fall as snow as temperatures are expected to drop during that time.
They added that the main weather system has already moved out of the region, and prevailing models do not suggest any widespread or significant precipitation across most areas of the Union Territory.
However, light precipitation in higher reaches cannot be ruled out due to residual moisture left in the atmosphere by the earlier Western Disturbance, officials said.
