Heatwave Eases as Temperature Drops Across J&K
Jammu and Kashmir experienced relief from the ongoing heatwave on Monday, with maximum temperatures dropping significantly across the Union Territory.
According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather Watch, Srinagar city recorded 25.2°C, while Qazigund and Kokernag registered 22.8°C and 21.4°C, respectively. Kupwara stood at 25.0°C, Pahalgam at 20.2°C, and the ski resort of Gulmarg reported the coolest temperature in the Valley at 17.0°C.
In the Jammu division, where scorching conditions are common during this season, temperatures also saw a notable decline. Jammu city recorded 32.3°C, with Katra at 29.9°C, Batote at 23.1°C, Bhaderwah at 23.6°C, and Banihal at 21.4°C.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, the mercury dipped even lower. Leh recorded a maximum of 10.0°C, while Kargil followed closely at 9.5°C.
The sudden drop in temperature comes as a respite for residents and is attributed to a shift in weather patterns and possible western disturbances influencing the region.
