J&K Police offer Rs 5 lakh reward for leads
In response to a recent surge in terrorist activities, the J&K Police announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the capture of terrorists involved in the latest attacks in the upper reaches of Doda.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Police officials who are actively seeking public assistance to combat the rising threat.
The Police in Doda released sketches of three suspected terrorists linked to the recent attacks and appealed to the people for any information regarding their whereabouts.
A senior Police official said that a reward of Rs 5 lakh would be provided per suspect, and the identity of the informer would be kept confidential to ensure their safety.
βJ&K Police (district Doda) appeals to the people to provide information about the presence or movement of these terrorists on the following contact numbers. The identity of the informer will be kept secret,β a Police official said.
The contact numbers provided are: SSP Doda (954190420), SP Headquarters Doda (9797649362, 9541904202), SP Operations Doda (954190420), DySP DAR Doda (9541904205), DySP Headquarters Doda (9541904207), SHO Police Station Doda (9419163516, 9541904211), SHO Police Station Dessa (8082383906), Incharge Police Post Bagla Bharat (7051484314, 9541904249), and PCR Doda (01996233530, 7298923100, 9469365174, and 9103317361).
Doda district, which had been cleared of terrorism in 2005, has recently witnessed a troubling resurgence of violent incidents.
The district has seen a series of deadly attacks.
This year alone 27 people have been killed in nearly a dozen terror attacks across six districts in Jammu province.
The casualties include 11 security personnel, a village defence guard, and five terrorists.
The spate of attacks has not spared civilians either.
On June 9, seven yatris returning from the Shiv Khori temple in Reasi district were among those killed in the wave of terror.
The escalation in violence has prompted heightened security measures and a renewed focus on counter-terrorism efforts in the Jammu region.
The Policeβs call for public assistance underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for community involvement in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attacks.
The announcement of the cash reward is part of a broader strategy to encourage residents to come forward with any information that could help in the fight against terrorism.
