JKBOSE Mandates New Syllabus Question Papers for Old Course Students in 2026 Exams
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released an official notice on December 31, 2025, announcing a major change in the question paper framework for students registered under the old course. The decision applies to Class 10th, 11th, and 12th candidates appearing in the Annual Private / Bi-Annual Examinations 2026.
As per the notification issued by JKBOSE Headquarters, all question papers for re-appear and failure candidates of the old course will now be prepared exclusively from the New Syllabus and updated Courses of Study. The board has clearly stated that the old syllabus will no longer be used for setting question papers.
This move brings old-course candidates at par with regular students by ensuring that everyone is assessed on the same academic syllabus.
Students Covered Under the New JKBOSE Rule
The revised policy will impact the following groups:
Class 10th (Secondary School Examination) candidates under the old course
Class 11th (Higher Secondary Part-I) old course candidates
Class 12th (Higher Secondary Part-II) old course candidates
Students appearing in Annual Private or Bi-Annual Examinations 2026
Re-appear and failure candidates registered under the old syllabus scheme

Reason Behind JKBOSE’s Decision
According to the board, the step has been taken to:
Ensure uniform assessment standards
Bring all examinees under a single, updated curriculum
Eliminate confusion caused by parallel syllabi
Strengthen academic consistency and evaluation quality
JKBOSE further clarified that the syllabus currently followed by regular students will now be treated as the standard reference for old-course candidates as well.
