The Meteorological department in its fresh advisory has sounded alert, predicting intense showers accompanied with thunderstorm and gusty winds during next 6-8 hours in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
It advised general public of the respective areas to stay indoors and remain away from water bodies, loose structures and landslide prone areas.
βModerate rain with intense showers accompanied with moderate to severe thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds at many places of J&K till next 6-8 hrs,β a MeT official said.
He urged general public to stay indoors/safe shelters, and stay away from water bodies, loose structures and landslide prone areas.
Pertinently heavy rains lashed most parts of Jammu and Kashmir since Friday evening. The sudden change in weather, driven by an active Western Disturbance, is expected to intensify over the next 48 hours, bringing along significant rain, snowfall, and thunderstorms.
The active Western Disturbance is likely to impact large parts of J&K and adjoining regions, triggering widespread light to moderate rainfall across the plains and snowfall in higher altitudes.
The MeT centre in Srinagar has warned that several regions, especially in the middle and upper reaches, could witness heavy precipitation
