Congress reiterates commitment to J&K: Will not let coalition come at the cost of party workers, Says Rahul Gandhi

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a significant address to Congress workers here, told them that any coalition formed in Jammu and Kashmir would not come at the cost of party workers and leaders.
“A coalition will happen, but not at the expense of the interests and respect of our party members,” he asserted.
Further, Gandhi emphasized that restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir comes first for the Congress party. “Jammu and Kashmir’s representation and statehood are supreme for us. This region was injustly downgraded to a Union Territory, and we are committed to healing the wounds of its people,” he stated.
Taking a potshot at Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition alliance INDIA has taken such an effective election pitch to the people that it has hit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s confidence and approach.
“Our ideology and strategy have shaken Modi’s psychology,” he noted. AICC Chief Malikarjun Kharge, who also spoke during this rally, shared the sentiments of Gandhi and expressed confidence in Congress’ chances in the upcoming J&K Assembly elections, scheduled to begin on September 18.
“Winning in J&K would set the stage for us to conquer all of India. We are aiming for 40 to 45 seats in these elections,” Kharge said, urging the people of J&K to place their trust in Congress for the restoration of their rights and dignity.— (KB)
