Rain Forecast Across J&K This Week; Landslide Risk Along Highway
The weather department has forecast a fresh spell of monsoon showers across Jammu and Kashmir beginning Monday, with rainfall activity expected to vary across regions and time of day over the next four days.
As per the forecast issued by Kashmir Weather, on July 21, monsoon showers are likely in the plains of Jammu, particularly during early morning hours. In Kashmir Valley, rainfall is expected in some areas, mainly towards the late afternoon, evening or night.
On July 22, most parts of Jammu and Kashmir are expected to witness rainfall, with Jammu plains likely receiving showers in the first half of the day, while rainfall in Kashmir Valley and other higher reaches is expected later in the day. However, no rain is anticipated throughout the day in some isolated locations.
July 23 may bring monsoon showers to many parts of the Union Territory. On July 24, rainfall may continue in some areas, though overall conditions are expected to improve, with no significant weather activity predicted.
From July 25 onwards, generally dry weather is expected to prevail across the region, with only isolated parts likely to receive brief showers. No widespread rainfall is predicted beyond this period.
Meanwhile, the forecast has also cautioned that a few areas may receive heavy showers that could trigger flash floods for a short duration. There is also a risk of landslides and shooting stones, particularly along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Authorities have advised travellers and residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert during this period.
