A sudden bout of intense winds late Thursday evening caused significant damage to residential properties in several parts of Central and North Kashmir, according to officials and local residents.

Areas such as Gulab Daji, Bernar, Malwah, Obera, and Kharpora were among the worst affected, where powerful gusts tore off rooftops from multiple houses. In some places, boundary walls and sections of homes collapsed under the force of the winds.

Residents said the abrupt weather change triggered panic, as the strong winds struck without warning. Many families rushed out of their homes fearing further structural damage, while debris was strewn across residential localities.

Initial reports indicate that no casualties were recorded, though property damage was considerable in certain areas. Locals reported that household items were damaged after roofs were ripped apart and walls caved in due to the wind pressure.
