Shah calls upon security agencies to achieve ‘terror-free J&K’ goal at earliest
Union Home Minister Amit Shah today directed all security agencies operating in Jammu and Kashmir to remain alert and continue to work in synergy to ensure that the gains achieved after abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India are sustained and the goal of ‘terror-free J&K’ is achieved at the earliest.
Shah said this while chairing a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir, in New Delhi this afternoon.

The meeting that started at 5.30 PM lasted over two hours and a threadbare discussion was held on all security issues in Jammu and Kashmir. Top brass of security gave detailed briefing to the Home Minister on various aspects of the situation.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director Intelligence Bureau (IB) Tapan Deka, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Nalin Prabhat, heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Assuring security forces that all resources will be made available to them in achieving the goal of `terror-free Jammu and Kashmir’, Shah directed all security agencies to remain alert and continue to work in synergy to ensure that the gains achieved after abrogation of Article 370 are sustained.
Article 370 which grants special status to erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped by Narendra Modi Government on August 5, 2019 and the State was bifurcated into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is committed to establish lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and completely eliminate terrorism,” Shah declared.
Reiterating the zero tolerance policy against terrorism, he said that due to sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi Government, the terror eco-system in Jammu and Kashmir has been crippled.
Appreciating efforts of the security agencies for strengthening security scenario of Jammu and Kashmir, the Home Minister stated that counter-terror operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and terror financing in a mission mode should continue.
Sources said the Union Home Minister is reported to have issued series of directions to security agencies on anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir while maintaining zero infiltration along the borders with Pakistan.

Security forces have launched search operations in mountainous areas of the Jammu region to track down the terrorists including foreigners hiding there. Contacts are being established with the terrorists. At the same time, several infiltration attempts by the terrorists have successfully been foiled by the security forces.
