Srinagar City to Be Decongested, Outside Vehicles Barred From City Centre: SSP Traffic
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), City Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad on Wednesday said that concrete measures are being taken to decongest Srinagar city and streamline traffic movement, asserting that no vehicle from outside Srinagar district will be allowed to enter the city centre.
Speaking to reporters while leading a traffic enforcement drive in Srinagar, SSP Aijaz Ahmad said that Sumo vehicles have been creating serious traffic congestion and efforts are underway to restrict their movement beyond Shergarhi Police Station. He said this step is aimed at easing traffic flow in the congested core areas of the city.
The SSP said strict action is being taken against drivers found plying vehicles without valid documents and driving licenses. He made it clear that traffic violators will not be spared under any circumstances.
He further said that wrongfully parked vehicles are being towed and legal action is being initiated against the concerned drivers. Emphasizing zero tolerance, SSP Aijaz Ahmad said that stunt bikers and minors driving vehicles are on the police radar and action has already been initiated against parents who allow their minor wards to drive two-wheelers or four-wheelers.
The traffic police, he said, will continue sustained enforcement drives to ensure discipline on roads and ensure smooth vehicular movement across Srinagar city.
