SSP Traffic Srinagar Takes Action on Underage Driving, Advises Parents
SSP Traffic Srinagar City on Tuesday held counselling sessions with traffic violators, including underage riders, during a special awareness initiative aimed at curbing reckless and illegal driving by minors on city roads.
During the drive, two boys—one aged just 14—were intercepted while riding two-wheelers without valid driving licences. The minors were also found engaging in unsafe driving practices, including performing stunts, thereby posing a serious threat to their own safety and to other road users.
Talking to the news agency that, SSP Traffic Srinagar City Ajaz Ahmad said that minors lack the maturity, self-control, and cognitive ability required for responsible driving. He explained that children are not capable of reflective decision-making and cannot properly assess the consequences of their actions, making underage driving extremely dangerous.

Parents of the minors were counselled on the spot and strictly instructed not to provide vehicles to underage children. The SSP also appealed to all parents in Srinagar to act responsibly and ensure that minors stay away from driving until they are legally eligible and properly trained.
