Trump has issued a 48-hour warning to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face possible strikes, as his April 6 deadline nears.

Trump warns Iran: Open Hormuz or face action within 48 hours

US President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying time was running out to reach a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as his April 6 deadline approaches.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump signalled possible escalation, setting a 48-hour deadline amid rising tensions.

“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD!”

Trump had earlier said he wanted a deal before April 6, warning that Iran’s energy infrastructure could be targeted if the Strait is not reopened. He said “great progress” had been made in talks but cautioned that if an agreement is not reached “shortly,” the US could strike power plants, oil wells and key export facilities.

He had paused attacks on Iran’s energy sites for 10 days, a window that ends April 6. The warning comes as Iran rejected US proposals, calling them “unrealistic, illogical and excessive,” while continuing missile strikes on Israel.

The conflict, which began on February 28, has since widened across the region, drawing in armed groups from Yemen and Lebanon.
