US-Israel Attack Iran Live Updates: Iranian state media claims US fighter jet downed in Kuwait; explosions in Bahrain, Dubai, Doha
Israel carried out a wave of air strikes on Beirut after the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah fired missiles and drones across the border early on Monday, marking the first time in more than a year that Hezbollah has claimed a direct strike on Israel. The Israeli military said it intercepted one projectile while others landed in open areas, with no reports of injuries or damage. Hezbollah described its action as retaliation for the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and for what it called repeated Israeli aggression.
The exchange forms part of a rapidly widening regional conflict triggered by a large-scale US-Israeli campaign against Iran. Israeli forces confirmed they had begun striking Hezbollah targets across Lebanon in response to the cross-border fire. At the same time, Israel announced “large-scale strikes” on Tehran, targeting Revolutionary Guard facilities, air defence systems and command centres. The US military later said it had destroyed the headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Iran responded with missiles and drones aimed at Israel and Gulf states hosting US forces. Seven people were injured in Jerusalem during a missile barrage, while other attacks struck sites across the Gulf. The United States and several Arab allies condemned Iran’s actions as reckless and destabilising. Gulf Cooperation Council members vowed to defend their territories and reserved the right to respond.
President Donald Trump confirmed that three US service members had been killed during operations, warning that more casualties were possible. He said the campaign, known as Operation Epic Fury, could last around four weeks and would continue until all objectives were met. He also urged Iranian forces to surrender and called on Iranian citizens to rise up.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has carried out another round of airstrikes in Lebanon. According to the military, the targets include Hezbollah sites such as weapons depots and other infrastructure in several parts of the country.
Smoke was seen rising from the US Embassy in Kuwait City, AFP reported.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the smoke or whether there were any injuries. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
At least 31 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon, the country’s health ministry said, after rocket fire claimed by Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.

A senior Israeli commander said the military would intensify its campaign following the cross-border attack. “Hezbollah chose the Iranian regime over the State of Lebanon and initiated an attack on our civilians… they will pay a heavy price,” said Rafi Milo, head of the Israeli military’s Northern Command.
“The strikes continue, their intensity will increase,” he added in a military statement.
A day earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the US strikes that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling them unlawful aggression and signalling a firm response.
Speaking to ABC News, Araghchi said: “What the United States is doing is an act of aggression. What we are doing is the act of self-defence.”
The US and Israel carried out joint airstrikes on Iran on February 28, even as nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran were underway. Khamenei was killed during the operation.
In retaliation, Iran launched missile attacks targeting US military bases across parts of the Middle East. The United States and six Gulf nations condemned what they described as “indiscriminate and reckless” missile and drone strikes, calling them a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability.
