Winter Vacations to End as Scheduled in Jammu Summer Zone: Officials
The winter vacations in the summer zone areas of Jammu division will end as originally scheduled, with no extension being granted, officials confirmed on Friday.
The clarification was issued in response to rumours suggesting a possible extension of the holidays. A senior official from the Education Department told news agency that all government and recognised private schools in Jammu’s summer zones will reopen on Monday, January 12, 2026, in accordance with the existing order.

“There is no plan to extend the winter vacation. Schools will operate normally from Monday,” the official said.
The official further added that all teaching staff must report to their respective schools on Saturday, January 10, 2026, as already directed in the vacation notification.
The statement comes as the winter vacation order, issued on December 13, 2025, is due to end on Friday. The holidays were announced in a phased manner for different classes.

Under the schedule, pre-primary to Class 5 students were given vacations starting December 22, Classes 6 to 8 from December 26, and Classes 9 to 12 from December 29.
Winter vacations for all categories will conclude on January 10, after which schools will reopen as planned.
