RBI minutes suggest room for rate cuts
The minutes of the October 2025 Monetary Policy Committee meeting indicate that with inflation easing, there is scope for future interest rate reductions. The repo rate was kept unchanged at 5.50 %.

IMF raises India’s FY26 growth forecast
The International Monetary Fund revised upward India’s growth outlook for FY 2025-26 to 6.6 %, citing resilient consumer demand and fiscal support.

India-US postal services resume
Starting 15 October, India Post resumed all categories of postal services to the United States, and introduced a “duty-paid” system to facilitate smoother customs clearance.

“Fare Se Fursat” fixed airfare scheme launched
The Ministry of Civil Aviation launched the “Fare Se Fursat” fixed-fare scheme, under which selected routes operated by Alliance Air will have stable, predictable fares (i.e. no surge pricing) during a pilot period through December 2025.

NH projects inaugurated & foundations laid in Puducherry
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a 38 km segment of NH-32 in Puducherry and laid foundation stones for a 3.88 km elevated highway and other highway upgrades worth over ₹2,000 cr.

RBI broadens related-party transaction rules
The Reserve Bank of India proposed expanding its norms on related-party transactions to cover promoters, key management persons, major shareholders (5 %+), and their relatives. These stricter unified norms will apply across banks, NBFCs, cooperative banks etc. from April 2026.

Bus fire in Jaisalmer kills 20+
A private sleeper bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire near Thaiyat village (≈10 km from Jaisalmer). Over 20 people died, dozens were injured. Initial reports point to a short circuit in the air-conditioning system; many bodies were badly burnt, complicating identification. The PM announced ex gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh for next of kin of deceased, ₹50,000 for injured.
